Maui Where to go
Maui Regions

The island of Maui by itself is made up of regions that differ significiently from each other in population, climate, and facilities. The far northern end of West Maui is relatively undeveloped. The drive around the north end of West Maui usually takes about 3 to 4 hours, and winds through some of the most spectacular views on Maui.

West Maui is generally considered to be the Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Kapalua, and Napili areas. and is considered the first resort area on Maui, hotel construction beginning over 30 years ago.

| |
South Maui is the Kihei, Makena, and Wailea areas of Maui. Some of the south shore is not accessible and has no populations or communities.

East Maui is probably the last wild place on Maui, it is here where Maui has its beautiful rain forests and waterfalls. Most of the coastline is rugged and steep sided.
There are wonderful hiking trails with beautiful scenery along the way to Hana. Charles Lindberg is buried there.
There is little or no development in the far Eastern end of Maui, so Hana still remains a small picturesque little town, surrounded by forest, jungle, and pasture on three sides with the ocean on the fourth. You won't find any large golf courses, big resorts, just peace and beauty. |
